BIO - Paola Shanahan, Italian by mother, Irish by nature
Paola Shanahan has always had a love for good food and authentic travel. Since childhood in her grandmother home region of Abruzzo she was to be found in her Nana's restaurant kitchen asking lots of questions. At school Paola was the centre of organizing the school events.
After finishing her education Paola looked to far horizon and decided to travel, ending up as far away as Ushuaia the southern point of Argentina on one trip.
In 1993 Paola moved home and qualified in DIT Cathal Brugha St, Dublin as a Chef mastering the science of fine foods at Patrick Guilbaud, Ireland's only two star Michelin restaurant at the time. She then took over the position as private chef to the Canadian Ambassador in Killiney, Dublin.
After working in the Food and Travel industry between Italy and Ireland for the best part of 10 years, she set up Irish Weddings in Italy in 2000. With more than 20 years of experience in destination Weddings and Travel business, Paola knows that wedding events take a lot of time, expertise and connections.
